Default First oil change...

Got an oil change today at 1900 miles. Went with Mobile 1 5W-30 (after waffling for a while over a synthetic blend or full synthetic).

Intially I bought the oil to change it myself. Since I have a 52" chest (and a big belly to match! hehe) and no ramps, it didn't happen [8D]

How is everybody on here changing their oil? Using ramps, jack/stands, or what? I can't imagine anybody being able to do it otherwise...

I figure I can change it myself for about 1/2 what the local shop charged ($7/qt for Mobile 1---ouch!!!), but not if I can't reach the bolt

I had my oil changed at the dealership at 3000 miles, and even that was sooner than recommended (manual says 5000). But I am sure they didnt use synthetic, since they only charged me $29.95

Heh..yeah, it's on the "early" side at 1900 miles, but lots of different opions reign on this (from 100 miles to 5,000 as the manual says). I went for something in the middle I expect to do it about every 3k from now on.

If it was the dealship, the book calls for Motocraft 5W-30 synthetic blend, so that's probably what they used.

I *do* like the bold, yellow 5W-30 on the oil fill cap! It seems many expect it to be 5W-20 (like the V8)...so it's a great reminder!

I used a floor jack and jack stands. I need to get some ramps.

I use a lift. I roll on out to the Miramar Marine base and pay 3 bucks for the lift bay for an hour or so. Oil changes are day and night when you have a lift.
