Default Air Induction Kit

When I bought my 07 V6 Mustang the guy threw in the Air Induction Kit and calibrator he got form FordRacing which he never installed. I'm cautious about putting it on because it messes with the computer and once you start messing with that it will have problems down the line. My dad was a mechanic/automotive supervisor for many years at different dealerships and he says I have to be really careful who I let mess with the computer. Am I getting worried over nothing? What do you think?

btw how much faster does it really make the car go? I don't know much about HP so if you could tell me how much faster i go form 0-60 it would really help.

You'll be safe with the Ford Racing parts,
What tuner/calibrator did he give you? Does it say what company does the tunes on it?

It would add maybe 25 HP, 30 tops..

0-60 time increase of maybe a half a second? Someone can chime in on that..
But it will FEEL waaaaaaaaaaaaaay faster.
Tune is the best thing you can do for your car, it makes it so much more fun to drive.

It is a ProCal II Tuner made by FordRacing. I'm also curious could I use the tuner without the Air Induction Kit? Is that not safe? I have no idea which settings it would need to be at with/without the CAI. It looks easy to program but I don't want to mess anything up. On the other hand I don't want to pay someone else to do a job I could do myself.

The FRPP tune is a bit lame as compared to other custom tunes but will still add roughly 10-12, maybe a tad more, RWHP. Other custom tunes from places like Brenspeed and AM will make that about 15-20 RWHP on the 4.0L engine in the V6. Both improve throttle response and overall driveability. Thery're easy to install (CAI and the tune). About 70% of the forum members are running aftermarket tunes.

0-60 times should improve a couple tenths.

Is it possible to revert back to factory default setup I.E. remove tuning and CAI?

It's very easy to reflash back to the stock tune. Reflashing the PCM takes about 1-2 minutes. But you'll also need to reinstall the stock air box if you flash back to the stock tune. But why would you want to? Some folks mistakenly believe the dealer will void their warranty if they use a Ford dealer for warranty work.

Yes the warranty thing was a concern but not if I can revert to the stock setup. I was thinking about using the tuner and adding the CAI later (a week or so). Is it bad to use the tuner without the aftermarket CAI? Will I still get more HP?

The CAI and FRPP tune are paired together. You shouldn't use one w/o the other. The tune w/o the CAI will run rich and the CAI w/o the tune will run lean. Either one isn't good for the engine and will throw a CEL (Check Engine Light).

I am about to do this tonight. Do i need to replace the tube? The kit came with a new one but the old one looks fine and exactly identical. Thanks for all your help by the way.

Installed the Cai and tune last night (used new tube as it was slightly bigger). The HP boost isn't as big as I thought it would be. Is it safe to use another tuner even though my Cai is Ford Racing? From your post it sounds like that's what would have to be done to get more HP.
