Default If you were to change JUST the muffler

what would you get?

I'm looking to pick up just a muffler to replace the one on my 07. I would get duals but I really don't want it to be that loud. The ideal muffler would be about as loud as stock driving normally but would make a little more noise if I gave it a lot of gas. also it would help if I wouldn't need to go to an exhaust shop to get it positioned right..

Is there anything out there like that?

Go to a shop and have them bend/hang a pipe from where the muffler bolts on out the back, then throw a tip on it...

I gauntee you'll love it. And it's cheaper than a new muffler....way cheaper.

If you are wanting a little more aggressive sound, get a GT take off exhaust from a manual GT. I've read the GT exhaust from a manual is more aggressive sounding than an automatic. I came across a lot of positive comments regarding the sound on the sixxers! I like the sound of the SLP loudmouths and boomtubes, however they maybe too loud for you. I would recommend checking out youtube and typing in different exhaust types to listen and compare.

GT takeoff if you want quiet, if you want cheap but cr*p sound go with a flowmaster, but if you can tolerate a little drone and the price slap on a borla s-type muffler, you can just purchase the muffler alone through places like jegs.

I had a boomtube single and it was way too loud! I loved the low deep sound though and it may be my favorite single axleback.

I just replace the stock mufflers on my gt with some flowmasters. I still have the factory exhaust. If that might be the way to go and it's just sitting in my garage.

OK. I will PM you if you might be interested in parting with one or both of them.

Slightly different question now:
Lets say I wanted to be able to have an open exhaust on my car for at the track. would there be anything wrong with having my cat replaced somewhere farther down the line, and a exhaust cut out somewhere placed in front of it? While I'm not going to cry over it if it isn't, but if at all possible I want to keep it emissions legal. the town next to mine loves to write exhaust sniffer tickets...
