I bought 3.73 gears and was about to have them installed. My co-worker's husband is a mechanic and looked up the VIN in their system. He said the car was built with 3.73s. He said it also has a different transmission than what normally comes on a V6. He also said he can't print it out for me so I am wondering if there is any way I can find this info online or if someone here can give it to me? I'm just curious what else there is.

If they are not stock they were installed by the dealer or a previous owner. There were no gear options for the 4.0 and there was only one manual and one auto available.

Oh ok. If they were installed by the dealer, would they have added it to the build info?

Usually only factory installed items are in the build info.
What did the window sticker say? (You can get a copy from Ford)
Or you can have the dealer print you the Oasis report, installed options will be on the report

You sure you gave him the correct VIN or they typed in the correct VIN? It does happen.. had a Ford dealership parts guy super impose a couple numbers and it came up in their system as v6 when I had a v8.

Jack up one tire and rotate the driveshaft and count the revs.
Thats the ONLY true way to find out what you have in there.
The sticker on the rear end will show you what
it came with from the factory.
As-Built-Data is almost never updated when pre-sale mods are done.

Just one look at the pumpkin should tell you
if it has ever been opened up.

Yup you just might want to re-check that information because someone either opted to put gears in that car or there is a major miscommunication with the VIN number. As far as the tranny goes it can only be one type of auto or manual a Tremec T5 manual or 5R55s auto if its the 4.0 and possibly 3.31 gears stock. Anyone correct me if I am wrong please lol

Ok I'll jack it up and check it out. He may have entered the vin wrong. I actually hope he did because I was looking forward to having these installed haha thanks guys! I'll update when I check it out.

Not wrong.
Most if not all 05-08 V6es came with 3.31s for the MPG rating to be true.
