Mustang 2007 Upgrade for 1000$ ( Pictures)

You could either replace the gears in your smaller v6 differential (7.5") which would just cost the price of gears plus installation, or you could find an entire v8 differential (8.8") and install it in the car.
If you don't plan on modding the hell out of your car, the first option would be cheaper and the v6 differential will be plenty strong enough. It'd be difficult for a 4.0L to break a differential I think, unless you had drag tires on it.
You could ask AM if they could make you a v6 kit like this. Including installation, you could possibly get this all for $1000. That also includes a hand tuner (as others have mentioned) which will increase horsepower, torque, throttle response, more aggressive shift-points if you have an automatic, etc etc. A good combo with gears

The other option of buying a complete v8 differential would be stronger, and most importantly in my opinion, have gears that were installed by Ford instead of some mechanic that you hope knows what he is doing. This would put you over your budget since you also need installation
