Default Advice needed on a new hood.

So my Mustang got ****ed up in an accident. Right now looking at a new hood, bumper, grill. At least. So a new stock ford hood is $1,300. I could get a decent fiberglass one for like $500. Hell I could get a saleen hood for $1000. I was actually leaning towards the Saleen one to be honest. Should I go fiberglass? Or stick with a metal factory hood? Besides weight is there difference between the two? Any problems?

Thanks.

Unless you're looking to race and need the less weight / cooling ability of the saleen hood. its all what looks better to YOU and what you're willing to spend. Remember its "Your" mustang. It should look best to you.

No other hoods made will be lighter than the OEM aluminum one, except a "real" carbon fiber one it someone even make one.

I you chose fiberglass, go with either Cervini or Kaenen as those need very little to no prep so it will be easier on your wallet.
The Saleen one is over priced.

Now is a good time to get a more appealing hood for free basically.

Oh no I get that I like the saleen hood's look a lot actually. And insurance will cover it so it is up to me what to do although with a cheaper hood I may be able to do some other improvements. I was more concerned because I've heard people say you should have hood pins if you have pick fiberglass, paint fades more and that's it's less durable. Among other things. I don't know much about hoods and stuff. I guess I am asking if there would be any downside to doing it/is any of that true.

The other one I was looking at is this:

I am not sure if it's a good brand. I looked at cervini's but I wasn't a big fan of the options.

Patrick91,

I'm sorry to hear about the car, however I'm glad to hear nobody was hurt and your insurance is going to cover the damage. As far as these hoods go, I think they'll all look really cool and unique in their own way.

All of the hoods you posted are great quality hoods. I love the Saleen and the Trufiber set ups. We've never had any problems with paint fade etc.. with any of our hoods, however in most cases we do recommend hood pins. They are not a must, but they are a plus.

I hope this helps, best of luck on your decision. Let me know if you have any questions or if I can be of any assistance!

Trufiber is good, personally I like Cervinis a lot though.. I would go for the fiberglass option if you like the style.. Hood pins are just helpful but not required...

Well thank you Pat.

Cervini is pretty much the best quality but you don't have too many options when it comes to style.
The 2.5 inch is a winner though.
And yes, hood pins are optional...
