Question Is the way I drive bad for a car?

I never take it easy, I am always flooring it and revving up to the red line.

Now as I will be getting a new Mustang 2013 Convertible V6 in the next week, I wanted to ask, shall I change the way I drive to the way normal people do it? Does my abusing of the throttle constantly hurt my car on the long run?

I would think always revving it to the red line is a bit hard on any vehicle. I do it every once in a while, but would not do it all the time. Just my 2 cents.

Nothing's bullet proof. If there's a weak spot, you'll find it and the longevity of the drivetrain will be compromised.

Anytime you push anything to or near it's design limits on a frequent basis is not good. Why do you feel a need to do that? I'm sure it doesn't make other motorist too happy and it's also dangerous to other drivers. When I see someone always driving like that, I want to smack them with a bat.... multiple times.

For the first 500 - 800 miles, try to keep it under 4500 rpm as the engine breaks in. Don't do a long highway cruise during the break-in period unless you're changing the engine speed (you don't want to spend a long time with the engine doing the same speed, change it up).

After it's broken in, don't rev the crap out of it when it's cold. Drive it easy until the temp gauge gets up, then start driving it however you want.

Hmmm, mine has been taking it with stride
for bout 5 years now and no mechanical problems
have occured from this 'spirited' driving.
My shift light is always working...

The V6's have a shift light?

Redlining is not necessary man. I do it once in a blue moon. Calm down just a little bit. It's fine driving our mustangs hard every once in a while, but don't abuse it every day, you'll regret it eventually

thanks for all the advice guys.

the reason I drive in this fux0red up way is because I had a 2.0L Lancer GT 2009 model that had no power at all and if you don't constantly floor the gad pedal the thing won't move, and even with it floored with it's supposedly great MAIVEC engine, a 1.8 Honda Civic would smoke me so that's why I drive in such an abusive manner but I think this will change with the Mustang as it's not needed since you don't need to push it to the limit to make it go

I drove very aggressively in my past cars as well since they were no power economy cars. I wouldn't suggest it though. There aren't many moments when you actually need to push the stang (v6 even) to the redline. If you get an auto like I unfortunately got then the computer seems to try very hard to prevent you from red lining.
