Default Sudden Loss of Power

I was driving on the highway this morning and it was snowing out when suddenly my car shuddered. The CEL came on and I had almost no power. Acceleration was completely gone and i had to drive in very low gears and go very slow. When i would let off the accelerator the car would slightly shudder depending on how high in the rpms i was. When i turned off the car when i got to work and turned it back on the CEL was gone and it seemed to have full power back. Any ideas on what this could be?

I've heard of and experienced on my SUV similar "ghost" issues often in adverse weather. It's possible that the PCM detected something (weather related?) that just tipped a parameter over the hairy edge to throw the CEL. Since it's back to normal, I'd keep a watchful eye.

Are you running any mods? Mileage on the car? Any maintenance items coming due?

No mods. Cars at about 87,000 miles. Maybe the clutch soon, it seems to be starting to slip but thats about it and it did not feel like a problem with the clutch.
