Default Cold air intakes and tuners for 2010 v6

Hi Guys.
Just a few questions regarding cold air intakes and tuner for 2010 v6. I was thinking of mods for summer. I already have ford racing dual exhaust with X pipe. I am looking at either Airaid or BBk or JLT CAI. What is the big differences between them. The Airaid seems to better built. But not sure what to look for in CAI's. I know that JLT requires a tune. I want a tune anyways. What is difference between a Bama SF3 tuner on american muscle and a regular SCT tuner? Bama 3 custom tunes? is SCT tune custom also?
It was either a tune and CAI or new wheels since my tires are getting worn. Can't decide which mod to do. But leaning towards a tune for performance gain . cheaper also than all new wheels and tires.
Thanks

C&L for the win.
Call AM and ask them about the tuners they sell
and the differences in between them.
And what tunes comes in what tuner...

Personally I would not go with SCT.
Check their website and see all the 'critical updates' they have out...

http://www.sctflash.com/showsctproducts.php?Prod=X3
http://www.sctflash.com/showsctproducts.php?Prod=SF3

One has analog inputs and the other does not?

All of the tune-required CAI's are pretty much equivalent in performance and the CAI is only about 20% of the CAI & tune combo's power gain so chose on what looks best to your eyes and wallet. As far as the tuner, since about 99% of the people use the handheld solely to store their stock and custom tunes and to load a tune, AND for minor other changes such as to correct for gear changes, tire O.D. changes and a few other benign user-adjustable parameters, the type of handheld really doesn't matter. Just be aware that most tuners write their tunes for the SCT platform as well as most dyno shops.

this is about the cheapest combo I found. Or should I skip the CAI and just get tuner?
since CAI is only 20% of gain.

another question. Does the Tune turn off emission co sensors and will that pass inspection? I guess I can go back to stock beforehand.

That CAI with the tuner is about as good as any. Yes, you can see decent gains with just the tunes. But if you're going to spend the $$ for a good custom tune, do it right and include the CAI. The 2 go very well together.

Thanks alot for the advice. I was also looking at the Ford racing tuner and K & N filter. But I heard it was weak compared to others. still wondering if these better SCT tunes turn off some sensors that won't pass inspection. that's about my only question now.

Whoever you buy your tunes from; preferrably Brenspeed or AM; can answer your questions. Their tech reps are excellent. And, yes, the FRPP tune is lame, probably about 10 RWHP shy compared to tunes written by those I mentioned.

Chromeblue,

I can definitely answer any questions you may have! CAI and Tune is always the first recommendations I give to anyone who is looking to mod their Mustang. These will give you huge gains in a few different departments! Power, Torque, Acceleration, Throttle Response, Drive ability, Gas mileage and so much more.

As far as the Brand goes for the CAI, all of the options you listed are great. AIRAID and JLT are definitely our most popular intakes, but when pairing them together with a Bama custom tune, you'll see similar gains between all of them! Here's a little bit about how we write our tunes:

For every Bama Tune we ask you 19 questions about your specific Mustang, including your unique mods and style of driving. This info helps us write custom tunes from the ground-up for your Mustang's mods that will give you the most horsepower that we can safely deliver. We're also constantly developing our tunes! Between our 14 different Project Mustangs and tons of street/track and dyno testing (on our in-house Dynojet 224xLC), we're looking for any minor tweaks to be made that can benefit you guys. We're also part of Fords Technology Transfer Program & Work very closely with Ford to insure that all of our tunes are perfect!

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any further questions or need some assistance. Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!

I am very happy with my Airaid CAI and custom tunes! The performance difference between the stock tune vs. the custom tune is night and day. You won't be dissapointed!
Make sure you request emissions friendly tunes. =-)
