Wondering about hp & tq?

RE: Wondering about hp & tq?
Scrming,
I have a question for you. I'll eventually spend the money on a dyno, but for now, could you give me a ball-park estimate of my horsepower at the fly wheel for my 2006 V-6 (automatic) with the following mods?
1. C&L CAI
2. X-Cal 2 tune (93 torque)
3. Mustang Racing Technology (MRT) axle-back aeroturbine muffler
I've noticed a real difference since doing these modifications. I would appreciate your informed/educated guess. THANKS.

OK, Once more for the fans in the cheap seats. I guess I'm kinda slow with this tech stuff but I love it cause I learn alot being here. Ford states that we have 210 Bhp at the crank but we really have 230? And we roughly run 185 rwhp? How is it that you figure out the lose for the drivetrain? Last but not least why does Ford underate the hp that much?

You are using the wrong percentage for you driveline loss... you are using 20% (230 - 20% = about 185).... for a manual the more reasonable number is 15%... which is right arount 180... there are bound to be some variances from car to car and dyno to dyno... but i don't think it's fair to say that Ford underated the 4.0L by 20HP at the crank...

i remember reading somewhere, probably on this site, that a magazine had dynoed a stick 4.0L at 186rwhp, which is around 230hp at the flywheel, so ford does underrate the power of these cars. same goes for the gt...

The base Mustang uses a 210 hp (156 kW) Ford Cologne V6 engine. The GT has a 300 hp (224 kW) 4.6 L 3-valve Modular V8 with variable valve timing. Both motors seem to be underrated. Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords recently dynoed a V6 automatic at 182 rwhp, which is about 235 hp at the flywheel. 5.0 Mustangs and Super Fords recently dynoed a new GT to 287 rwhp and 305 rwtq. Thats about 340 horsepower and around 360 lb.ft of torque at the flywheel, and is enough to propel the new GT's through the 1/4 mile in the lower 13-second bracket with some good shifting.

RE: Wondering about hp & tq?
i believe the general consensus is 12% for manual, 18% for automatic. Even an IRS setup in a manual is estimated to only lose 16% and thats a lot more ish. Which is why the ford GT is so amazingly underrated. rated at 550hp. Put down 535rwhp on a MUSTANG DYNO, which is closer to 580rwhp on a dynojet...... so thats underrated
