Default 2006 V6 Electrical Issues

Sometimes when I turn in the car the following issues are observed:

- HUD/Dashboard All gauges reading zero. Dashboard not lit up.
- Blowers work but no AC
- indicators not working
- electric windows and convertable roof still works when this happens

After a few minutes driving I hear a clicking/switch sound and the HUD/Dashboard comes alive again.

Other times

- random fuel gauge reading errors
- horn randomly peeps by itself

I took it to a general mechanic and during diagnostics we go the following errors

- short circuit in dashboard
- some kind of air bag issue
- fuel gauge problem

I'm guessing its a module, but does anybody know how I can find out which modules control what ?

There's a TSB regarding a water leak which will cause water to run down the Smart Junction Box (SJB) located in the passenger kickpanel. The SJB's circuits eventually corrode causing all sorts of electrical gremlins. That's just my guess on your car. The next time it rains, check the carpet by the passenger kickpanel for moisture.

Also, the '05's and '06's are notorious for having problems with the stepper motors in the gauge cluster fail, causing one, some or all gauges to become erratic.

That 'manual' is pretty darn good reading material.
I know my Mustangs electrical systems better than
most dealership mechanics do...

Based on my experience with local dealership monkeys, you'd only need to know that an unplugged connector may cause something to not work right in order to be a big step ahead of them...

Took them three tries to put my console back together and have everything work one time. I can do it myself in about 5 min.
