Default 2014 V6 - brakes vs. wheels!

Good morning, I'm new here, and to the Mustang world in general.

Recently, I've completed my "homework" of shopping for a new car. My Kia has been a great car for me for the past 4 1/2 years or so, but I am looking for something with a little more go, and a lot more fun. I drove the Challenger R/T, Genesis Coupe 2.0T, Scion FR-S, and the Mustang V6. I've decided that I liked driving the Mustang just as much as my other favorite, the FR-S, and I'm able to tailor the car to my whim a lot more than the Scion model, too.

So... Mustang V6 it is. I'd love to go with the GT, but that'd be pushing my budget closer to the limit where I don't want to be.

I'd driven the base model V6, with the manual trans. No options of any kind - so, the 2.73 rear end and 17" wheels were equipped. I did feel the high-profile tires made the handling feel a bit rubbery. I've been contemplating ordering one with the V6 Performance package, to get some better springs and lower-profile rubber, and 3.31 rear end, along with all of the other goodies that it comes with. For $2k, it seems like a really nice package, to me, and I'll gladly pay it if it improves the car substantially.

I just have one issue with this - I'm under the impression that the V6 Performance package brakes are different than the base model's brakes. As such, I have concerns about whether or not a 17" wheel will fit back on the car again. The reason I ask is that our roads here suck in the winter in a big way. It would be my only car, so it will have to go through snow and over potholes the size of those states out East. I would still like to be able to change 17" wheels (with higher-profile, and far less expensive winter rubber) back onto a car with the performance package if I could. If I couldn't, I may opt for the base car, and add different wheels/summer tires later down the line... but of course, I'd be without the other niceties of that package.

I haven't been able to find if the rotors are any larger than the base rotors, despite my searches here and elsewhere.

Thanks for the help!
