Default looking for a part for my convertible top

hello all!!!!

I have a 2010 mustang convertible and I am looking for the elastic straps that help pull the top in when lowering it. Mines ripped and broke and can not find anything part numbers or information.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wouldn't those be built into the top?

no it is not part of the top. there are two screws that hold it in place. it looks like an elastic band about 2 to 3 inches wide. but not sure.

I have the same thing going on with my 07. 1 of the elastic straps has lost it's tightness and is no longer pulling the top in very well when it goes down.
I have Google search like crazy looking for these elastic straps. Anyone know where they can be found?
Thanks for your help.

*Update
I unscrewed the strap on one side, pulled it tighter, punched new hole and screwed it back down. Did the same to the other side. Tighter now and pulls the top in just fine.
Of course since the straps have lost elasticity this will only get worse over time so I've looked into replacements. My strap is 1 inch wide and seems to be just your standard elastic strap. I need 4-5 feet to work with so I found this and I think it will work just fine:
Amazon.com: Dritz 9507B Non-Roll Woven Elastic, Black, 1-Inch: Arts, Crafts & Sewing Amazon.com: Dritz 9507B Non-Roll Woven Elastic, Black, 1-Inch: Arts, Crafts & Sewing
I'll get it soon and replace my current strap with this new one. Should last much longer.

My wife's 2010 has the same problem. The top doesn't fold properly as it's going down because the elastic strap is almost frayed in two. Did you replace yours? On hers, the strap can be disconnected at one end, but the other end is made into the top, so I'm considering how I might attach to it.

Same problem here. This was on my Spring repair list. Now that things are starting to thaw, I will dive in to it.

I know all convertible tops are a little bit different here and there, but does anyone know of any book or reference on tops? I can sew and have done upholstery, but replacing a new top is kind of a pricey thing to experiment with.

Yes, they are stitched into the top at the edge. I cut off the frayed ends (which are at the other end, bolted to some metal frame pieces) made some new holes and re-bolted them through the new holes. Originally these ends were coated in something to reinforce them where the holes are. I was considering ways to reinforce them and then drilling the holes. Maybe coat them in epoxy and let it dry, then drill.

My top has weak straps as well and I will replace them in the near future. By the way, I replaced the top on my 99 BMW 328i last year. Wasn't a whole lot of fun but saved me about a grand, lot of work but not to complicated. It looks more intimidating then it really is.
