turning my standard V6 grill into a pony package grill
I have really wished that I had the Pony Package. Big thing because I love the grill. it gives these late model Mustangs a look like the classic ones quite a bit. So, I got an idea today about making mine into one. Getting a PP grill is big bucks plus on closer looking. I really do not like the looks of the grill openings or grating. I like the looks that my standard grill has. So I thought that if I could get ahold of just the "Corral" trim. I can retro fit it to my grill. I jumped on E-bay and found this one. $78.00 shipped. So I bought it.
I figure it will work with some modifying. I am very good at fabricating plastics. I had a business for years making parts for model building. As long as the horse on my grill is the same size as the one on the PP grill. I think I can make this work. As for the fog lamp. I am going to make some mock up ones for now. Just the lamps alone are big bucks. I have to wait and see the size of these holes for the lamps. I might be able to make something from what I can get at work. I can get my hands on some very cool low voltage LED lighting. But that will be later. But I am sure I can come up with something to make it look like the right light. Then later I may hook it up.
I will post pics

I have not had much time to work on this. But I did a little fitting and mock up. I think that this is going to work out quite easy. I just need to decide if I want to modify the corral or the grill. Being that the corral is not only more money then the grill (I find base grills on E-bay for $20.00) They are hard to find. So I figured out how to mount this piece by modifying the grill and not messing with the corral.
This is going to give me that classic Mustang look that I love about the Pony Package cars. but also be a little different. I like the looks of the tighter crate openings on the base grill then the bigger ones on the PP grill.
I found the correct size driving lights at the autoparts store. The factory ones I have found on E-Bay are a bit much. But for now, I am going to put a screen mesh in the light holes to simulate cold air ducts like on the 60s ford factory race cars like the 64 T-Bolts.
I will keep you all up with pics.
