Default 2010 V6, New Valence installed now trying to decide on exhaust options?

Got the new Valence installed yesterday now I'm trying to decide on exhaust. I'm leaning toward putting on some GT take offs but I'm not totally sure yet.

I'd like a good sounding exhaust but not obnoxiously loud. Any recommendations?

John

GT takeoffs will make it slightly louder. Now, it all depends on what sound you are going for to be able to recommend an exhaust setup. Of course, other posters are going to chime in and say "buy a V8 if you want a V8 sound, blah blah blah" You have a V6 (like me) and want to work with it, not buy a new car. So, don't pay attention to those comments.

GT take offs are a quick and cheap way to try out duals. They'll make the tone slighty deeper and slightly louder. What's really nice with them is the resonances of the muffler build are not in the same frequency range as the engine RPMs. This means there will be no annoying drone at any speed.

Pypers mufflers are loud. Street Pro aren't as bad as the Violators, but they're both bad. When cold, both mufflers are very very raspy. They offer a nice deep tone, but they have a resonance around 2200 RPM, which is right about highway speeds. The drone is unbearable on them both.

I've got Magnaflows on my dual setup now. They are the perfect compromise between sound and volume. They are louder than stock and the gt takes offs, but not annoyingly so. The tone is very nice and give the car more of a throatier, deeper sound. They have a resonance somewhere around highway speeds, but the drone is not as noticeable as the Pypes mufflers.

I hope I could help out, good luck, and let us know what you decide!

I had GT Take offs on my 2010. If you can find GT500 mufflers off a 2010 they will sound even better.

I just got some 2014 GT take offs this evening for $75. I'll take them to the muffler shop and have the rest fabricated tomorrow.

The 2011+ muffler will not bolt on to the 05-10 exhaust. The inlets are different styles and in different places I believe. Also hangers are different.

You are going to need some kind of way to split the stock exhaust after the cats. Either a h-x, or prochamber, divorced, or a second y pipe like the magnaflow. Then you are going to need a passenger over axle pipe. You will need to buy this as a I doubt there are many shops that would be able to pull off the bends needs without ruining the pipe. Then you are going to need the passenger side muffler hangers.

Any half decent exhaust shop with a pipe bender can fabricate over the axle pipes and such.

Got the mufflers put on this morning. They look and sound better than I hoped for. They didn't have any problem bending the pipes or mounting them. They welded every thing instead of using clamps so the differences weren't a problem.
