Default New 2014 V6 Water Leak

I noticed a water leak in my 2014 V6 that I purchased new 6 months ago. There was heavy rain in the area for several days, during which I was not driving the car. When I opened the door to the car the day after all the rain I noticed a foul smell in the car. As I was driving I kept feeling drops of water on my foot because I was wearing flip-flops.

The dealer has been giving me vague answers as to where the leak is coming from. They told me that they sent it to the body shop and that there is a problem with the main body. Now they are waiting for Ford to tell them how to deal with the problem.

I was curious if anyone else has experienced anything like this with their brand new Mustang. I'm also curious what constitutes the "main" body of the car.

Unbolt everything you could from the car.....what us left is the main body. Mainly the passenger compartment. Sounds like an issue in the firewall area. Keep on top of this for sure.

I just heard back from the representative. He said that there was a slit between the driver side fender and the firewall that was letting the water in. They had a hard time recreating the leak without opening up the hood and spraying water directly on the firewall. I am not sure how they are attempting to repair the issue, but he said that the first attempt on my car did not work so they are trying again.

He also told me that several 14 Mustangs came in with the same issue at the same time because there was such sustained heavy rain that weekend (It doesn't rain much here in Austin).

They finally found a tech that could correctly repair the issue and patched up the car within one day after it was in the body shop for about 2 and a half weeks. It has not rained heavily since I got the car back, but hopefully I won't have to worry about it.

Wow,almost 7 years of leaky stangs and Ford
just cant get it right on the assembly line with
the body sealer application.
In 07 it was 'skips in the bead of sealer" that caused
the leaks. (My 07 stang leaks like a sieve).
Then multiple TSBs later over the years, the leak moved
to the cowl area then the trim around the door glass and so on...
I just want a dry interior that does not stink to high heaven
on a warm day.

BTW My 09 DODGE CHALLENGER has ZERO water leaks
so I know it can be done in this day and age...

What if NASA had leaks in space???
