Default new steeda filter need oil?

I just got a new steeda CAI filter for my JLT CAI. Got it for $0 on black Friday! Just had to pay $15 shipping but that's besides my point. Does this brand new filter need oil? Or is it already oiled? How can you tell? Can you feel the oil? see the oil? Any thioughts?

I should have bought one... even if I don't have the intake lol

I would imagine that if it needs oil that it is pre-oiled. It should be fairly apparent when you open it by feel and color.

When I re-oiled an old filter the material was white and the oil turned it red.

Since the picture looks red, I would guess it is pre-oiled. K&N filters come pre-oiled.

Yeah, its red, and really big! That's because its for a GT. I have a V6. I needed the one with the 3.5 inch tube not the 4 inch tube. An inch longer too. There was no way to specify which mustang it was for on the brenspeed.com
. Oh well, got a good deal anyway, maybe ill sell it on ebay or save it till I drop a V8 in my car !!LOL

If the MAF sensor plug in wasn't so close to the filter end of the tube I could half *** it on but then it would look dumb :/

You might be able to find an adapter of some sort, but you are right it might look funny and not fit right no matter what you do. You could check the local home depot for PVC pipe adapters from 3.5" to 4"
Just my thoughts

if that wall thing that bolts onto the engine compartment wasn't there I could maybe get an adapter tube, otherwise no way. The filter is just too long.

How about a half inch ring of plastic with some silicone sealant? or something like it might work.
