Well I have had alternators last much longer on other cars. I didn't know if the 200 amp would be better if I decided to do more electrical upgrades later on.
I already bought an OEM replacement since I had to have a vehicle after my beater started over heating and wouldn't start. The alternator was the quicker fix. More expensive but definitely quicker.

10 years and 135 thousand miles sounds pretty tough to me. Just my opinion though.

Completely understand. I also have a 97 subaru impreza that has 250K on it and the original alternator on it. I would think that it's alternator would go out before a newer built alternator. But who knows I could be all washed up.

You obviously never owned Toyota's or Honda's. If an alternator ever went on any 1 of my 6 Toyota's before 200k miles, I'd have been pissed. LOL!

I'm with you, Nuke. When I replaced the alternator in my Mustang the second time, I went with the new (not rebuilt) lifetime warranty alternator from O'Reilly. Since it seems I have to replace this poor design far more than I should, I will let them pay for it.

This was the first alternator that I have had to replace on any of my vehicles I have owned. All of which had the original alternator. I did end up going with a refurb from O'Reilly only cause my beater wouldn't start due to a timing issue. Otherwise I would have went with new.
