Default Alternator, upgrade?

So stock alternator went out about a week ago with 135k on it. I knew it was going out for a while but haven't wanted to spend the money to replace it since well winter came. Should I upgrade to a higher output one or get an oem replacement? Car electronic wise is stock other than a built in tablet and 1000watt amp.

Thanks for the input.

I put in a PA Performance alternator, 130 amp, in my 2006 GT about 6 mos. ago. Got it from American Muscle. Everybody raves about these alternators. So far, it seems to be doing a great job.

depending on how you use it, your amplifier can draw up to 83 amps of current. though I doubt it does that continuously.

If I had to replace one in my GT or in my wife's pony, I'd go with PA Performance. I simply don't trust the OE Motorcrap.

Thanks for the input. I wasn't actually going to buy from Ford. I'm moreorless debating on upgrading to the 200amp vs. the 135amp. Is the cost worth it?

Hey Eismann,

Great question!

I am a fan of the 135 Amp Chrome Alternator myself.

Not only does it look great under the hood, it also packs a punch and will keep your Mustang kicking for a while!

Check out some of these reviews, I do not think you will be disappointed.

Hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks for the thought about the chrome. not a huge fan of "flash" like that is. I will take a look at other but if possible I like to buy local even if it is part of a larger company.

135,000 miles on your stock alternator? I'd say it's a pretty solid part. Why do you want to change to an aftermarket one when the stock one lasted for so long?
