Smile New 2007 Mustang Battery Died, Is this out of place cable the cause?

Hello,

I just had the battery in my 2007 Ford Mustang replaced in January. Yesterday it hesitated to start, but today it was completely died. Once I opened the hood, I immediately noticed an out of place cable (blue plug) on the battery. Is this the cable that caused my car not to start? Where did it come from? Any advice would help.

Thanks.

Have you owned the car since new? It looks like someone spliced something into the cable because that isn't a factory connection. It's probably that splice causing your issue. I'd replace that cable, the splice doesn't look to be in real good shape.

I agree with Jim. It looks like some one did some extra wiring to the car that isn't factory. If you didn't buy it new I would say someone might have installed an after market radio/amp at some point based off the wiring.

That blue plug is a fuse. Try pulling it out and see what quits working!

Yeah, it looks like someone put a fuse inline for some strange reason... bad place to put one too. I'd replace the fuse but a blown fuse won't drain your battery - it would actually do quite the opposite.

As others have said, that looks like some sort of after market "creative engineering." If that power source is needed I would encourage you to replace it and straighten things up.
