Replacing harmonic balancer/crankshaft pulley in 4.0L V6
I have a 2007 4.0 automatic and my harmonic balancer isn't tracking correctly (it has a little "wobble"). I want to change it before it comes apart and damages the engine bay. Does anyone have instructions on how to change on a 4.0 V6? Most of the threads I found talk about changing it on the GT.
These are the install articles I found:
I'm going to replace it with an aftermarket version (Dorman 594-236) and replace the pulley bolt with a new one from Ford (part number: E7RY-6A340-B). Is this the correct bolt for the V6? I've seen threads saying it was F5RZ-6A340-B but they were all talking about the GT.
I'm also going to rent a 3 prong pulley puller from Autozone along with a Harmonic Balancer install tool.
If anyone has additional info, tips or links to other instructions I'd appreciate sharing. Looks like this is going to be a pain in the butt so I want to be as prepared as I can.
Thanks!
Mark

I think the part for my 2008 was W712688-S430. I removed mine with a standard puller but had to get longer bolts to thread into HB and the use a shorter threaded bolt into the puller over a partially threaded crank bolt. The Dorman HB is the new improved design. It should slip onto the crank snout and then you can tighten it with the stretch bolt. To torque it, warp the old serpentine belt around the HB and loop it over the idler pulley. Torque is done in two stages.
