Default 8.8 rear

I'm wanting an 8.8 rear end for my 2006 v6 pony pkg car. I've seen some rear ends on ebay off of a 2010 and up gt coyote for a reasonable price. Would these fit my 2006 v6? and if so what else would I need to buy to install it?

It will fit but you will need a pinion flange unless your changing out the drive shaft also. http://www.speedconcepts.net/product...roducts_id=757

You can use a 2005-2010 GT rear end, and will need the pinion flange.

The 2010 is not the "coyote".

You can use any Mustang rear end from 2011-2014, all are the 8.8" rear end. SOME will be a direct swap, no pinion flange change required. I use to sell new take off rear ends and never figured out for sure which had the correct flange already; check when you get it before swapping is all I can say for the 2011-2014,

Thanks Jim. Do you have any idea what on average a shop charges to remove and replace a rear?

No idea what you will find in Kansas. I had a shop do it in SE Michigan because I didn't want to mess with the pinion flange and they charged me $100.

Jim I have located two on ebay one is a 2013 with 355 gears, the other is a 2014 with 373 gears and only 40k miles. I really want the 373 gears, I have 331 right now. Is there a lot of difference between these two ratio's? Price is 100 dollar difference. I'm ready to buy now just waiting to here back from seller regarding shipping costs.

I had 3.73 on my 2006 at one time. It was fine, not too much on that transmission.

I went to the 3.55 with the Xcharger because the 3.73 was too much down low.

I went from the factory option 3.31's to 3.73 gear ratio. It was a larger difference than I was expecting. Pulls so much harder with the 3.73's

Are the rear brakes the same on the 7.5 and the 8.8 rear ends? I have new pads and rotors on my 7.5 just wondering if they will fit the 8.8 that's being swapped in.
