Question Off the Road ... Cooling System F*CKED

Hi guys,

I'm at a loss. I can't get my cooling fan to come on. I've replaced the fan assembly (including the resistor), relays 25 and 28, fuse 3, fuse 40, swapped the thermostat and ECT sensor, all to no avail. I also dissasembled the fuse box and had a cursory look. Nothing seemed burnt below the surface; HOWEVER, the socket fuse 40 goes into is melted. There's very little contact left for the fuse. I'm thinking this might be the culprit? The previous fan's positive wire was damaged, and the high speed fan relay was toasted.

The issue began when my cooling fan would only come on when the A/C was on. My A/C currenty isn't charged, so I can't test it that way.

I'm an absolute n00b when it comes to electrical stuff, so I'm hoping someone can help me out.

I was thinking of temporarily wiring in a Hayden 3652 thermostatic fan control. Where could I locate a 12v ignition switched source on an 07 V6?

Thanks, guys.
