Wow, unbelievable 2007 Airbag Recall attempt

We live in Metro Atlanta and had someone knock on the door today. It was a car we didn't recognize, so just ignored it.

Later I went outside to find a door tag, not your typical "roof replacement" offer.

It was an official Ford Airbag recall notice. Wow!

I left a voicemail about my true garage queen 2007 Pony Package only having 915 miles and I was going to pass. Got a quick return call.

Learned that Ford was sub contracting the repairs. The person has been factory trained in Detroit AND even offered to do the repair in my driveway.

I passed, but am reconsidering

hmm I would actually let them do mine if they came to my door to do it

I would replace them. Not worth the risk if they ever go off.

IT's NOT the airbag!!, it's a part which controls the airbag deployment. That part takes all of 10 minutes to swap out. Go ahead and schedule it. Mine was done and NOT a single issue since then.

Your car, your call. But hard to explain to your insurance company should the need arise. It's no big deal just have it done and CYA.

10 minutes, realy?

Can you tell us what interior parts needed to be removed to access the repair area?

EDIT:

Found this video on the small amount of damage that can be caused. Go to 2:52

it's under that passenger airbag part. It's the part which initiates the airbag deployment, not the bag itself. I dropped mine off, got it back about 2 hours laters (shops are busy you know :) )

Your mind is made up, no matter what we say.

My passenger side airbag 'inflator' was replaced in 30 minutes with zero damage at my local Ford dealer.
