opinion on gears
Hey everyone, i am coming across some money for the holiday and was going to use it on gears and t-lok but not sure on getting either 3.73 or 4.10 since i plan on purchasing a turbo once available next year. fuel consumption isn't a concern either. Just wanted to hear what everyone has to say.
Thanks

auto....how much will the 4.10's effect my top speed compared to the 3.73's?

If your car is auto I definitely reccomend the 4.10's, they will improve your take off dramaticly. What are the goals for your car?

To my understanding not much, how often do you go faster than 105? I think Scrming's trap speed was 105 on his last 13 second 1/4 mile run. I don't plan on going faster than that as I am building my car to be a 1/4 mile racer.

The 4.10s are great for around town and jack rabbit starts off the lights... hehehe... but on the highway you do run the higher RPMs which can get tiring after a few hours... I love my 4.10s... but a lot is going to depend what you plan to do with your car... if I knew how much torque i was going to get out of the nitrous it might have been a good idea just to keep the stock gearing...

RE: opinion on gears
Wow, I was off by like 2MPH. I checked my 4.10's again, I am at 2700-2800 at 80MPH. Tested it multiple times all day. I know my 4.10s are in, I can feel the difference and I watched him put the gears in. Could it be my tune? Shouldn't I be at 3000 rpm?

Rygen tune shouldn't have nothing to do with it, could just be calibration of the two diff tachs, and or poss tire dia. I would have watched two

RE: opinion on gears
I am talking about your comparing your reading to one of the other poster, yours and the other poster tachs might not be exact and if your running diff tire dia I diff wouldn't worry about it.
