V8 Engine in a V6

V8 Engine in a V6
Anyone know of what problems would arise from installing a 2005 V8 mustang engine in a 2005 V6 mustang. I realize a exhaust and T-LOC would be required but what about the transmission...etc? If its possible, has anyone done this yet?

i know the transmission in the gt is different, the intake is also different, and the suspension will be too
i am sure that there is a lot more than just these...this would be a pretty hardcore upgrade, are you sure you do not want to superhcarge or turbocharge? they will get you more power than the v8

Have to concur with the above posts. If you want a V8 go out and get a car with one already. You'll save big headaches and much dough compared to a swap.
Personally I'd just build the hell out of the V6 with a turbo or supercharger

come to think of it, for the price that you will pay to get the engine, all the other parts that need to be replaced, and for the labor to install them, you will probably pay more than selling your car back to ford and buying a gt

Yep, trade it in for a GT. Or if you really want to build a sleeper, see if you can fit a crate engine in it, LOL....but I don't know how realistic that is. I got the Ford Racing catalog and some of these crate engines are sick fast. Either way it is not cost effective, you could buy a GT and get a Zex kit for it and be at 400 RWHP.

There is a wrecked 2005 GT (that is unrepairable) at my buddies auto wrecker shop is why I ask. He said I can get the engine for $800 bucks and everything is in working condition. I agree, the additions like the exhaust, transmission, and extras would add up. The GT when I priced it however was almost exactly $9,000 more and from what I can tell...still is.

you would need tranny, rearend (not just the t-loc), all the plumbing, the headers the exhaust, and sway bars. most of the suspension is exactly the same from v6 to gt minus the swaybars. you would however need the gt front springs to keep the car level or the added weight from the gt engine would make the car nose-dive. if i was you i would see if this wrecked gt has a decent tranny and rearend in it. if it does it will all swap over to the v6 with very little fabrication. also to get the gt motor in it you will have to buy some gt motor mounts ( i believe they are bolt on not weld on) and bolt them in place of the sixer brackets.
