Yes, you can change the differential with out changing the gears... The 3.31 gears really aren't that bad... The main reason I changed my gears was because I was running a back tire that was quite a bit bigger (taller) than stock

Gears & Tlok are going to be my next upgrades. From what my old man and I were talking about there would really be no point to go with just a tlok. See all a Tlok will do is stop the wheel from bogging & not catching the street (not chirping the tires while shifting gears) bogging as I belive he explained it. My old man explained from the point of his 85 GT mustang 5.0. That car has a lot of power, it needs a tlok so it can even out the torque in the rear end. IF all the TQ went to one wheel in a 5.0 you wouldn't grip the road that well when it was time to get on it.

Its hard for me to explain but you won't see much if any horsepower or torque out of a tlok nor gears. Which brings me to say the only reason you would want to add a Tlok on a V6 is if you were replacing the gears cause you would be running through the rpms a bit quicker and then the tlok would even it out to the other wheel. Just a tlok on the 4.0 I would almost think you would lose some.

I don't know though

There are a couple of reasons to install a limited slip differential:
1) Better launching from a dead stop due to increased traction.
2) Better handling since both wheels now power you through turns
3) Since the power is distributed to both wheels it means that the one axle shaft is not taking the brunt of all the power.

I have no idea how "bogging" comes into play here??? Bogging to me means not enough gas/high enough RPMs when you go to let the clutch out?

Ok... this sounds reasonable... (see my items 1,2 and 3) so if a Track-Lock is ok in a 85 GT why not in OP's V6? Works exactly the same...

I don't even know where to start on this one... make no sense what so ever... You put a LSD in for the 3 reasons I've listed above... Putting in gears is for completely different reasons... The reason people do gears and LSD together is because you might as well do both since you have the differential open... 2 birds with 1 stone theory...

I agree....

If you buy a limited slip thaen buy the Detroit Trutrack. It is a MUCH better differential than the trashlock. The traklok uses clutch type discs that wear out over time and need limited slip additive. The Trutrack is all gear driven, locks up more firmly, and will last much longer.

Screaming I just have a hard time explaining my self sometimes like I stated lol, no sense in comming at me sideways like you did man and qoute pick me lol [&:] I know how it is to tell someone off when you have more experience & knowledge but Im still learning too. Im 23. I had a 2.8L 85 Camaro for the last 6,7 years. Since I was sixteen and you could'nt do anything to that car so I was never that much into modding. Just starting to get into it so you'll have the excuse me if I don't explain thing's like Im in my early 30's and have been modding cars for a while.

I can get an idea of what type of person you are now, just an idea, your cool though I don't hold nothing against anyone, real knowledgable lol thanks for the info and helping me understand it a whole lot better.

The reason I "quote picked" you was because it was the only way I could address your response... it was just all over the place... it was only way I can make any sense of it.. I was not trying to knock you personally or come at you "sideway".... I was simply trying to sort out your response...
