Did 3.73 gears slow you down?
So, I'm getting 3.73's and a t-lok installed next week. I've heard one report of 3.73 gears slowing down track times on an auto (I have an auto too) as compared to the stock gears.
Has anyone else had this experience? Anyone notice any slow down with the taller gears? You guys with 3.73's... sound out! What do you think of the mod?!

I didnit notice a slow down at all - it takes off much harder and pulls much better with the 3.73. However, it may reduce some of your higher end speed because the different ratio - I believe screamin has written about this earlier.
It definitly gets you out of the hole alot quiker - that's for sure - unfortunately, after that mod then you start thinking about oh maybe a little NOS, or a s/c etc... and then you are back in the hole..

I appreciate your thoughts. How high is the higher end that the gears effect? 100+ mph? Or, sooner?
down the rabbit hole,eh?... after this round of mods, I'm gonna try and slow down... avoid getting a supercharger for as long as I can. How fast do I really need to go to get to the grocery store?!

the 3.73 gears will help you get off the line quicker and pulls harder in 3rd gear til 80mph.
The other day i tried going past 120 in 4th gears and really stepping on it. It seems it took a while to get past 120. i never reached 5th gear, but 5th gear may have helped to get me past 120 faster. I really like the 3.73 at high speeds. It gives enough power to get in the tough spaces between cars.

I know I have a GT but 3.73s should do the same in your car they did in mine. My trap speed went up .6 mph and I picked up .22 seconds in the 1/4. I ran 13.55 before gears and 13.33 afterwards.
