Bullit wheels installation. impact on suspension
Hi,
Just replaced my wheels with Bullitt's 17". Their weight is higher than the original wheels.
MY CONCERN: Is there enough capacity with the existing suspension (springs & struts). When talking about suspension, I though they refer to the "dead" mass (or weight), meaning the actual weight in motion. That's why people go to special alloy wheel to lower this weight.
In my case I kept the V6 suspension and added the GT heavier wheels. Is there any of you that experienced problems and had to change to the GT suspension (struts & springs). Seems nobody been talking about it on this forum when they do replacement of wheels for Bullitts.
GT suspension are being sold as take-off, just does not seem popular?
Also, if there is a potential problem, is it only encountered at high speed, which I rarely do, then may be not too bad as is.
Thanks

RE: Bullit replm't. impact on suspension
I had no problems at all after installing the 17" Bullits w/ stock size tires. The car feels more stable with the P-Zero's. I don't think the Bullits are that much heavier than the stock 16's, and the overall tire diameter is almost the same (little to no affect on speedometer). For the way I use my car, I see no reason to upgrade to the GT (or aftermarket) suspension - this is the best handling Mustang I've ever owned.

dont upgrade to GT suspension, your car will sit too high and it will be too tight, remember the fron GT suspension is designed to hold up a 4.6L v8, not a 4.0L v6...
the only reason you would want to upgrade is if you were dropping in an engine similar to the 4.6, other than that changing wheels only effects your speedo
