Intake would probably be the only thing to go with if you dont want a chip or gears. However some cai's do require a tune, so you need to make sure the one you wants doesnt need a tune. CAI's are also somewhat useless without a tune, the tune allows for more horsepower.

i would RECCOMEND getting the C&L intake with lido's tune from alternative auto (yes like scrmng)- i'v heard nothing but great things from anyone who's got them and upwards of 20-25+ HP

if thats not the direction you want to go... you can always get the dyno proven AFE 12HP intake with stock tube

The C&L intake with a tune from either Doug of Bamachips or Lideo is a great way to go... but, that would be about twice your limit.

With $300 (and since you don't want to chip), I'd go with an AFE intake as LesteR suggested. Or, save up a little more and get an X-cal or X-cal 2 for just a bit more.

sorry but for me the SCT X-Cal2 is a must have mod... you can put all the bolt-ons you want but until you fix all the short comings with the car's computer, which controls everything, your performance is still really going to be limited... especially if you have an automatic..

What good is the extra horsepower if you car still suffers from that unbearable throttle lag... LOL

Listen to the guys that are recommending a tuner. You can always get the intake down the road. The tuner provides the best bang for the buck at this point.

tuner for alternative auto is 400, so just save up a bit more

if not, intake is the way to go, imo AFE is the best that does not require a retune
with the last 100 you could go ahead and try the new mmr throttle body spacer

Hrm...you have giftcard to where? Do they stock all of the "common" V6 stuff for 05/06 stangs??

If you can scrape up the extra $$$, the Xcal2 is the way to go. BUT---if their tunes suck, you might was well, get something else for your money.

I can easily recommend the C&L intake and Xcal2 tunes from Lidio!! Good stuff....but that doesn't do you much good if your giftcard is to some place else!!
