Default Which differential: auburn, detroit, or the Ford T-Lok

OK, i've finally got enough cash to do something to my car and i've decided its going to be a LSD. The T-lok seems like it would give me the extra off the line traction that i'm looking for but i like the idea of having a stronger differential. Why not buy the part thats made stronger right?

I've read bits and pieces of info about auburn and detroit differentials but I'm still uncertain which one is the best. All I care about is improving launch and low end traction. My car is a stock O5 V6 slushbox.

If you are gonna go the blower route then get the TT, if you plan to stay NA then go the TLOK. Though, the TLOK seems to handle 400 TQ just fine.

I have the TT and love it. But...it's a lot more money than the T-Lok. Unless you plan on launching hard at the drag strip, and I mean hard, save some money and just get the T-Lok. Even if you get a power adder, you won't need a TT unless you get serious. I plan to get drag radials at some point, I already have nitrous.

I've quite happy with my Auburn. It's supposed to be stronger than the t-lok, not quite as strong as the TrueTrac. My shop got a great deal on it... only about $90 over the t-lok. It sure locks up nicely!

I just purchased a T-Lok, gears, install kit and oil for $375 shipped to my house. I would just buy the standard parts, and if your pushing over 400hp or 400ftlbs you should swap an 8.8 from a GT anyway. Paul's High Performance has an 8.8 in there V6, since they are running 75-100hp nitrous and 4.10 with slicks. They are running 12.90's. If your only going to run in the low 14's or high 13's, just use the standard T-Lok and a 4.10 gear.

Hope this helps!

No! The TT and Auburn are made for the 7.5" also! I believe with a TT the 7.5" will be stronger than a stock 8.8". The only weak point would be the stock axles.

I've been looking for the Auburn, but don't know where to find it. Any ideas? Of course, I'm also looking for a good price!
