what do you mean by raw hp and tq?

oh, so you guys mean the power that is able to be used
that is what i meant by my question
although a mod may not give any gain to the rwhp peak, it may give a lot of gain in other ranges
i think a good example is the Alt Auto tune. the dyno chart shows that although the peak gain is not very much, the range of the power and tq is much better

RE: 200rwhp the Hard Way!
well to answer the smaller engine higher hp question. the gains comes from a more tuned engine, from the factory (=less gain with tuner) and a higher compression ratio. and require more fuel. the best example i can think of is my friends car. he got the new eclipse GT and beat me. not horribly but pretty bad. it makes 263 hp from a 3.8 liter engine.
-scrming when you find out from ford tell me.

If you take a motor, and squeeze every HP out of it you can, what are us modders gonna do with out spare time?
Seriously, it's all about the model.
If ford put a 250HP V6 in, they'd have had to make the GT 350ish HP to be able to sell them. Then the GT500, would need to be a GT600 and so on. Rousch and Saleen would have both had to find a way to squeeze more power out of an already topped out engine, etc.
about that MAZDA6 example... look at the torque... 199 at the flywheel... that sucks... we pull 240 at the flywheel
I think it was Carrol Shelby that said "Horsepower sells cars, Torque wins races"

This may be kinda off topic, but why didn't Ford make both the GT and the V6 more powerful? The GT, even with a 4.6L V8, doesnt put down any more HP than a Mazda6. I just don't get it. If its supposed to be a big dog, why is it not allowed the power that it potentially has??? and the V6, it could have at least another 50HP stock, but it doesnt. why would Ford hold back like that? I would think that doing that would cost them sales that go to cheaper cars with more HP (aka a new Hyundai with 320HP).
by all means not bashing Ford at all, i just dont get it.

I think that the hosepower/torque numbers need to be displayed in the proper context. What RPMs was the engine at when the peak hp/tq numbers were reached? When the peak hp/tq changed, did the rpms at the peak change? I'm not running Bonneville, the Indy 500, or the U.S. Nationals. On the street is there an appreciable gain?

RE: 200rwhp the Hard Way!
I took i 2006 350 z convertible for a ride the other day , the guy had just run a string of 14.9's -15.2's at 93-94 at the track, so i knew i had him covered. So on the way home in the expressway he pulled up besides me at 45-50 more or less and with a passenger, jeje(poor guy was the only thing running thru my head) I gave him the ok nod and off we went, as soon as i gunned it i was in front by a car and started pulling on him , so he flashed his lights. We lined up again from a roll with the same results , i pulled at least 2-3 cars on him. He rolled down the window and went for the common ( this is a 6 and thats an 8 ) when i cut him off with the "its a v6 auto" , you should have seen the look on his face. A week ago i saw him at the dyno adding some parts to his rice rocket, jeje, looks like he is still hurting, lol.
