RE: help!!!!bad drone sound with new duals
I had the same issue with a pair of MAC duals. Drove me nuts. Couldn't even carry on a conversation in the car between 2000-2400rpm the drone was so loud.
Swapped 'em out for GT takeoffs. Been happy ever since. The GT's sound strong, but remain civilized.
I don't think tossing the rubber damper on there is going to "do it".

Well the dredded drone is gone. I took it back to the muffler shop and they put in two resenators 1 on ea side just behind the h pipe wow what a difference took 80 to 90% of the drone out but still has a beefy sound no rice sound or poping sounds great. just a low grow the sound i was looking for. so if any of you have the dreaded drone i highly reccommend the resenators. A big thanks to Maxi muffler(Jerome blackwell for an exellent job.

GOVOLS:
I went back to the shop, not because of the drone (which I expected with FM 40s), but for the shudder I got at 1400-1500 rpm. They put the balancer back on, and it's almost gone now.
