Default Stock BF Goodwrench(check spelling) Chunks?

So I woke up to a screw in my stock tire, which you can imagine made it rather flat, to say the least. So after I took it off and put on that ugly spare, i noticed that my flat had chunks missing from the tred. When i took it to get it replaced from some local shop they said it was a known problem that the BF Goodwrench tires can chunk away. It was my right rear tire, so my infamous one-tire burnouts could be to blame. But even so, should that happen? Has anyone else had that problem? I replaced them with something like FUZION tires. They look nice and have worn well through all the burnouts so far.
