Tire Size for a Fox

Okay, I got all four of my Bullitt rims sitting in the garage now. I have comepleted the 5 lug conversion. Now I am really stuck on what size tire to buy. I wasnt something that will fill up the wheel well but I really don't want to deal with any rubbing from turns or when I hit bumps. My wheels are Ford racing chrome bullitt 17x8 with the 5.6 BS +29MM offset.

Please give me some suggestions.

I had considered 245/ 45 on the front and 275/ 40 for the rear.

Or 235/ 45 for the and 245/ 45 for the rear..

The car is lowered 2" right now but I have consider changing those springs out to stock or 1" lowering springs..

275/40's will NOT fit the 8" rim & 255/40's can get sqeezed on but most shops won't do it because it is still too wide for the 8" rim. to me,sounds like your best bet would be 245/45's all around. or get a pair of 17x9's for the back then you could go with the 255/40's. on my 91notch I have the staggered 17x9's w/255/40's rear & 17x8 front w/225/45's & they fit perfect.

Thanx, Do you think I will have any rubbing issues on the front with 245/ 45's

I ran a 245/40 on 17"x8" wheels for 20 years with a 2" drop. No rubbing issues in any way.

Running an 8" wheel, you are really stuck with a 245 tire and would not recommend wider. You can squeeze a 255 in some cases, a Nitto being a pretty good example as they run a bit thin, but would not go wider on an 8" wheel.

A 45 series tire is only going to be 1/2" larger diameter, so only 1/4" less clearance. I would not be concerned with with rubbing on one.

no, 245/45's are probably one of the most common fron't sizes for stangs. if you go with a staggered setup 8"F/ 9"R, the 245/45 is the same height as the 275/40's alot of guys like to put on the rear. great combo. for your's I would go with 245/45's all around... just my 2cent's
