Widest Tires for a 16x9.5 inch rim?

I'm having trouble finding anything above a 225 my wheels. What is the widdest I can put on a 16x9.5? The wide ones are just going on the back, so I'm not concerned with rubbing or anything. Thanks in advance.

You can easily run a set of 9" up front & 10" out back (up to a 10.5" pretty easily, as well)

Tire sizes I recommend for a DD and not into the hardcore twisties, like The Cat here, would be 265's & 285's on 9" & 10" wheels. The profile depends on the diameter of the wheels and off-set/back-space is gonna need to be real close to +24mm to avoid rubbing on a New Edge ride.

With the above sizes, you should have zero rubbing of fenders and mabye a tiny bit on the front sway bar during full-lock of steering wheel. There is a very remote possibility that the front fender "tabs" at the 9:00 & possibly 12:00 positions need to be bent over a bit, as they can get close to the tires while turning sharp. These are best to just be cut off and will not create any issues with appearance or damage to your fender.

Not to hijack your thread, but can you fit a 305/30 BF Goodrich T/A on an 18x10" wheel?

^ yes, although completely maxed out on that wheel. My recommendation is no more than a 295.

My friend mounted a set of 305's on a 20x9, with no issues. Obviuosly you won't be putting all of it on the ground since the tires will just bubble up around the wheel, but it's still a lot more than before.

^ Did you tell your friend that he is wasting width of his tire and has less performance than a correctly sized one?

Sell him some 10" wide wheels to go with his 305's :D
