Default New edge tire fitment?

Another tired " Will these fit on my car" Thread.

I have an 01 GT convertible I am looking for wheels and tires for. Suspension is currently stock, but looking to lower it 1.6" F&R at some point this summer.

The wheels I am looking at are

Front: 18x9 with a 24mm offset and 5.90" backspacing.

Tires are 245/40ZR18's

Rear wheels are 18x10, No offset or backspacing listed, but show as the "Option" for the same wheel as above, Im assuming they are the same back spacing and offset. Wheel isnt available at tire rack until next month.
Link:http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...eelModel=Razor

Tire size im looking at for the rear is 275/35/ZR18.

Will these fit alright on stock suspension? And more imprtantly will they fit ok after lowering 1.6"? I want the staggered look, but dont really need stem rollers, looking for good straight line grip that will perform well in the twisties, mostly just a balance, as I am not racing the car on a track at all (or much...who knows about the future!)

Thanks, and sorry for the long post!

The off-set is fine on the fronts, but your link for the 10"s, does not work Tire Rack will be good with fitment and the drop of which you speak will be fine for any wheel rated to fit your car.

Link still doesn't work and is FREAKIN' HUGE!

BUT.... I got tricky with my super-fantastic mod-powa and found it

^ Nice lookin' wheel, BTW!

The specs for the fronts are as follows:
Size: 18x9
Offset: 24mm
Backspacing: 5.90"
Bolt Pattern: 5-114
Weight: 26.2lbs.
Finish: Anthracite w/Mach Lip
Construction: 1 Pc. Low Pressure Cast
Finish Warranty: 2 Years

That off-set will push the wheel a bit farther out than I like to see on a New Edge ride. Only about 1/4" more, but recommend you do some rolling of the fender lips to give a bit more clearance to the tires, so they don't get cut/damaged (standard off-set is +30mm, so 1/4" farther inward)

I will PM Luke of Tire Rack and ask him to chime in on the rears for any off-set/back-space info he can offer.

the 18x10 has a 24mm offset and the 275/35-18 will not cause any fitment issue with your '01 GT

I took the liberty of putting a quote together including the wheels and 245/275 Continental Extreme Contact DW tires and the $$$ looked to be $1552.00 plus shipping

give me a call directly to order them or use this link as it will identify you as a MF member which in turn will help the forum

Thanks Luke! I put that together already. 1700 shipped.

@Jazzer...the Kitty-mod is the best eva! So you think if I lower it, ill have issue then? Perhaps if I went with 17x9 and 17x10's? Would that make a difference? Any opinions on the tire brand and type? Ive heard good things myself. Besides, 17's would be cheaper, do you think there will be much of a visual difference? And what size tires would be good on the 17's for my goals? Luke, feel free to chime in as well.

Hmmm...so essentially ill only be looking at a slightly taller sidewall then on the 17". I think I could live with that. But as jazzer stated, would I still ahve to roll the fender lips? Especially if I lower it 1.6"? on the 17" wheels, what are the best tire sizes to go with front and rear?

Edit...Seems you dont even offer those wheels in a 17x10.....pure suck!!!

Edit2---Any one have an opinion on what it would look like to run 17x9's all around? I still would like a wider rear tire though...doesnt have to be massive...not a drag car! Thinking maybe on the back 255 or 265 40's or 45's and the front 245/255 40's or 45's...17"

Edit3...The site has for the 17" wheels a special note that says this: "17x9 ET24 fits front and rear with 255/45-17 or 275/40." Does that mean I can run 275's in the rear? if so Im thinking 245/40's up front and 275/45's in the back. That would work for me! Ill keep editing though.....

That particular front wheel protrudes slightly more than the "norm" of a 9" aftermarket wheel. Those are close and yours will be slightly closer, but is not a big deal at all. Certainly not enough to dissuade you from your purchase of them. The need for clearance is not for the diameter of the wheel, but rather the sides. This would be identical if it were a 17" or 18" wheel, because of the off-set dimension.

As Luke mentioned, the diameters of both a 17" and 18" wheel, are all "essentially" identical, just 5% lower sidewall for the 18"s. The difference is literally 1/2 of .1" diameter.

You can run between a 245~275 on a 9" wheel and a 265~305 on a 10" wheel (some exceptions to this). I happen to think a 275 is a bit wide for a 9" wheel, as they sidewalls tend to roll-over on hard cornering and leads to sloppy handling. This is not dangerous and not even a concern to you, if you don't corner hard, but I do A 275 will generally rub a bit up front on your year anyway, so I would recommend a 265 up front to help avoid the need for making a bit of clearance.

Again... NONE of the reasons stated are enough to avoid buying these wheels. They will fit fine, just bend over the sharp tabs on the inside of the fenders to make a bit more clearance.

Thanks Jazzer! Does that apply even when lowered the amount I plan?

Im thinking of going the 255/40 up front and the 275 or 265/40in the back. Thinking Ill stick with the 17x9's all around.

Luke, if you dont see this Ill pm you. Looking for your input as well.
