Default 1988 gt with 03 cobra wheels

Hey guys I am sure it has been asked but I can't find specifics.

I plan on doing the 5 lug conversion swap on it. I was hoping to do the kit from late model restoration. I plan to use the drum brakes. I would love to upgrade the rear to disc but I am trying to keep this simple. I plan on doing 17x9 all the way around with a 245/45/17 in the front and a 255/45/17 in the back. I am not going for a crazy aggressive stance. Just a nice look. Will these fit? I heard something about outer bearing on front? Will they mate up to the surface of the drums? Please help me!

Thanks in advance!

I'm getting back into the hobby. I sold my 93 10 years ago and am hopefully going to pick up a clean 88 gt with 80,000 on it!

If you really want to go simple, just go with their 4 lug versions of the 03 Cobra wheels. Done and done.

Just a thought. Good luck with the project!

I hear what you are saying. But I do want to go through and rebuild the axle, we'll get it rebuilt! And I want to do new rotors and hub bearings so I'd rather do the 5 lug swap since it is a complete kit for a decent price. Besides I feel the cheap 4 lug is outdated. I guess you could say that about the rear drums but that will work just fine for my driving application.

Will I have to do any modifying to get the 5 lug wheels to work?

I'm pretty sure the fronts won't work with the late model kit. the rears will.

do yourself a favor and change to the sn95 brakes up front.

Do they make direct swap kits or do I have to piece meal it? If I did have to, what all would I need? And for rear I could do
A generic 5 lug axle swap and the rear would be good to go?

as far as i know, nobody makes a kit. so yeah, you'll have to piece it together.

you would need:
spindles
hubs
rotors
pads
calipers
hoses
dust shields

here's a good write-up on it.

as for the rear, yeah all you need are a pair of axles and a pair of drums.
