How do I know what wheels my ‘00 GT came with?
I recently purchased a 2000 GT convertible. It has aftermarket 17” wheels (with the wrong size tires) on it. How can I find out whether this car was born with 16” or 17” wheels? I’d like to know how off my speedometer is.
Thanks!
Thanks!

They came with 16".
Go here:
https://tiresize.com/calculator/
Compare the factory tires with what's on it. You can do all this yourself. You can get
the stock 16" tire size with a search engine, then use that tire calc to compare the 16
to 17 with tire and IT will tell you how off your spedo is.
You did not provide the tire size with your ask, but we'd have to do all the same work
you can do, so give it go.

There was a 17x8 option in the 2000 sales brochure:
I have done the calculations, but without knowing which wheel/tire it came with I can’t be sure. It currently has 255/35R17 P-Zeros on it. Short of getting a Marti report or window sticker, I don’t know if there is a way to find out.

Again, using YAHOO, you could have found this: https://www.wheel-size.com/size/ford/mustang/2000/
It has all the stock sizes. The tire on there is small, you need 245/45ZR17. I found this in seven
seconds using yahoo...
At 60 you're going 56 with those tires.
All five of those options were not available on each car. As shown you had
TWO for the GT, the one it came with (16"), and the option, the 17" x 8".
Deductive reasoning...
IF the tires you have were 255/45 they'd be okay, but the 35s are 1.7" shorter, but .4" wider.

You insist on giving me attitude about how to calculate speedometer variance. Maybe you can search on Yahoo for how to read. My only question in my OP was how to determine which wheels my specific car was built with.
Appreciate the help. If this is indicative I’ll spend my time elsewhere.

You said: " It has aftermarket 17” wheels (with the wrong size tires) on it. "
You asked: " How can I find out whether this car was born with 16” or 17” wheels? "
NOW you say " My only question in my OP was how to determine which wheels my specific car was built with. "
No, you asked for speedometer variance, AND size, all of which was answered.
You posted a wheel options picture, only TWO were for GT, so you basically answered that yourself. Doesn't
matter. Based on the 16" or 17" it could have come with, the tires on there now are 1.7" shorter, and .4" wider.
Thus the shortness causing the speedometer to be off by 4MPH
You want to know what it was built with, run the VIN. That still won't matter because the tires
on there are smaller, much smaller.
Your upset because I pointed out how easy it is to find using Yahoo...

No, that was a statement not a question.
That was my only question - the only question mark.
I only asked about which wheel my car was born with. I can see where you might have been trying to help by taking that next step, but as I said in response to your first response - I have done the calculations. Meaning I know how to find and use the online calculators.
I posted the wheel option picture to correct your statement that they came with 16". "Deductive reasoning..." tells me that it came with either 16" or 17". Hence my original question. That said - true, the stock 16" tires are essentially the same diameter as the stock 17" so either way the variance is about the same. I wasn't thinking of that.
Yahoo can't answer the question I asked.
All that said (and putting it in the past) - I did typo on the size of my tires. They are 235/55R17 which are taller than they should be.

My wife was in the room with me, and I said "I'd like to know, what you're doing."
She went to answer me, and I said, don't answer that dummy, that was just a statement...
She called me a jerk, and was about to leave the room. I stopped her, showed her your,
umm, STATEMENT, and I showed her I answered it and what I got for it... You got a different
reply that ended with HOLE... SO, it's not just me...
Do not worry, further STATEMENTS you make will be ignored, unless it specifically
ends with "?" Later...
