“Eleanor” Mustang Sells for $1 Million at Mecum Auction

Perhaps no other Mustang has been replicated as much as the “Eleanor” from the “Gone in 60 Seconds,” the 1967 Shelby GT500 becoming an instant classic thanks to the movie’s famous car chase scene. Officially licensed versions sell well into the six figures, so we were wondering what this real version – one of eleven built and just three surviving – would go for at Mecum’s Original Spring Classic auction in Indianapolis, IN. While we expected a hefty sum, weren’t prepared for the final hammer price – an even $1 million.

First 2013 Boss 302 Laguna Seca Listed for $145,000

And $145,00 is a price drop. The price was originally set at $189,000 but when it was listed on eBay, it was only bid up to $66,000. The plaque on the intake manifold states that this is car “MP 001,” making it the first 2013 Boss 302 Laguna Seca. It was originally owned by Ford’s marketing department, who used it for product photography. But then it ended up in the press fleet, where it racked up a very hard 4,190 miles.

First Production Shelby 1000 Widebody

Shelby first announced a widebody kit for the 2005-2009 Mustang back in December, and a similar package for the 2010+ Mustang a month later at the Detroit Auto Show in the form of an 850 horsepower GT500 Super Snake. At the time we asked company representatives if the widebody kit would be available for the Shelby 1000, and the answer was a resounding yes. In fact, they told us that one was already under production.

Performance Autosport Mustang RTR Race Car

We’ve been following Performance Autosport and driver Chris Cobetto since they debuted their NASA American Iron race car in 2011. Not only does the team have lots of success on track, as they not only have a lot of success on track, winning two straight Mid-Atlantic American Iron championships, but their cars are also beautifully designed. The same goes for the latest iteration of the car, which Performance Autosport debuted this weekend with updated 2013 RTR bodywork and an all new race livery that they describe as a “darker, meaner, more menacing look.”
