“Eleanor” From Gone in 60 Seconds Heading to Mecum Auction

A true movie star will make its way down Mecum’s signature red carpet this May in Indianapolis. Known by most simply as “Eleanor,” the modified 1967 Ford Mustang from Touchstone Pictures’ “Gone in 60 Seconds” will cross the block as Lot S135 at Dana Mecum’s 26th Original Spring Classic auction this May 14-19. This collector car icon piloted in the movie by retired master car thief Memphis Raines, played by Nicholas Cage, is the real McCoy. Several cars were built to handle various duties in the filming of “Gone,” but this is serial number 7R02C179710, the “Hero” car driven by Cage during filming and the model used in movie close-ups, posters and promotional materials.

Shelby Officially Unveils “1000” At NYIAS

Last year Shelby made a huge splash at the New York Auto Show, introducing its most powerful Mustang yet, the Shelby 1000. Fast forward one year and the company is back again in the Big Apple, this time with an updated version of the car using the 2013 Shelby GT500 as a base. With the larger displacement 5.8-liter engine, the new 1000 packs even more of a punch and produces up to 1,200 horsepower on pump gas in S/C trim.

1600 HP Mustang With Crazy Paint

All you need to do is say 1600hp mustang to get me interested. Throw a really cool paint job on top of that, and I’m in.
The motor is a collossal 632ci beast that sips on a 400 shot of nitrous as it tears down the strip. This video has him pulling a 4.8 run down the eighth mile. What this big power mustang do what it does best in the video below.

2014 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet Announced with New Colors

The Ford Mustang Cobra Jet will live on another year, as Ford Racing has announced that they will once again offer the turn-key racer for 2014. Not much has changed from the previous model year, which saw a host of updates including the introduction of new engine options, but the 2014 will offer two new colors, Gotta Have It Green and a Cobra Jet exclusive Flat Black, a new 3-speed automatic transmission with an SFI-approved bell housing, and lastly a parachute mount for racers who are exceeding 150 mph.
