Not all sounds are created equal.  Some, such as wind and tire noise, are uninvited guests to the interior of a car. Others are welcomed with open ears. Take the exhaust note of the Ford Mustang’s V8 as an example. The music coming out a quality sound system is another. Ford’s engineers have worked to keep the riffraff tones out of your drive while accommodating the desirable ones.

To do so, they needed to create a stiffer body structure for the S550. The 2015 Mustang is now 28 percent more resistant to twisting, which means the cabin is quieter. The Blue Oval’s crew improved the car’s aerodynamics and reduced wind roar by doubling the amount of simulation and wind tunnel development performed on the automotive icon.

Joe Kafati, multimedia systems supervisor, said, “The reduction in ambient noise enabled us to achieve the same sound pressure levels in the cabin with much less power and distortion.”

The new ‘Stang comes with three choices of audio systems:

-A six-speaker set-up with A-pillar-mount high-frequency tweeters.

-One with nine speakers which separates low- and mid-range frequencies between two speakers on each door.

-The Shaker Pro package with 12 polymer cone speakers, a pair of rear coaxial tweeter/woofers and a trunk-mounted subwoofer for max bass.
