3,000 Horsepower! Is This the World’s Most Bonkers Mustang?

While I’m a big fan of race cars and drag racers, I normally dislike the way highly-modified vehicles can lose their charm and character, only to give way to aerodynamics and weight reduction. That being said, this Australian Mustang is the complete opposite of that.

In what resembles a ’70s Mustang body, this outrageously and powerful drag racer manages to cover a quarter-mile in little over seven seconds at 165 mph. How does it do that? Well, the massive 94mm turbochargers sticking out the side of the engine bay have something to do with it.

As the narrator explains in the Fullboost video below, electronic power and fuel management are key to squeezing the last ounce of performance out of the engine. Knowing how to tune the various engine parts to make sure they’re all in harmony to deliver the fastest run down the track isn’t only difficult — it’s an art. When you have 3,000 horsepower (10 times more than a normal Mustang GT) you can’t simply head out to the track and smash the throttle. Doing that is asking for very, very expensive trouble.

This bonkers and gorgeous-looking Mustang is hands down one of the (if not the most) beautiful looking drag racers I’ve ever seen. I can’t be alone, right?
