pretty easy if u have a complete 5.0 drive train and computer, it can be done a few ways, old skool or with a computer....old school being u get a old school distributer that has point or runs off its own computer like msd ignition setups and go with a carb instead of injection, so u would need a carb and intake manifold.this works great and u dont have to worry about compter crap, thats how i did it last time.
the other way u need the motor and tranny all the engine wiring harness and the computer to run it, ur 2.3 ecu wont run a 5.0. dropping in the motor and tranny is easy. u will need a drive line spline off a gt or 5.0lx to mate the tranny to ur drive line. i just bought the spline as apossed to buying the whole gt driveline since it was cheaper and u just get a u joint and swith the spline on ur 4bangers driveline as they are usually the same length as the gt's
u should be able to pull ur motor in tranny all in one peice in a day and drop your new motor and tranny in in one peice the next day and be driving on the third if u got all ur parts, except exaust, thats an issue. your tranny crossmeber has one hump in it to accomidate single exaust, your exaust wont fit the 5.0 and ur 5.0 exuast wont fit ur car unless u get the gt tranny crossmember that has 2 humps in it. i geuss u can have custom exaust made but it depends how much 5.0 donor stuff u get. say u get a smashed up 5.0 car that runs but is too smashed to drive and u have the whole car then u would be golden, and have every thing u needed everything, u would need nothing but to switch parts assuming both cars are sticks or both autos, if ur c ar is an auto and the donor is a stick its a bit tricky but possible, hope this helps witout making u too confused! it really is easy though

ur 4banger tranny cant be used. there is a thing that looks like a pipe with lined grooves on the inside, it slides on the end of the transmission shaft, its called the spline as it has spline teeth, its a few inches long and connects to your driveline by a u-joint, the gt has a bigger spline size so u need to switch these, pretty easy stuff

i'm sure you'll get a lot more answers in the

5.0 forum[:@]

(being that this is the 2.3 forum, so most of us have 2.3s, so obviously we havent swapped to a 5.0)
