Default Ecoboost fuel tank smaller, why?

I was at the dealership this morning reading the 2015 brochure and it stated that the ecoboost has a 15.5 gallon tank and of course the v6 and 5.0 have a 16 gallon tank. Anyone know why the ecoboost has a smaller tank?

1/2 gal isn't worth it, must be a misprint unless the fuel pump is different.

Interesting. ..do smaller turbo four cylinders need a bigger fuel pump than naturally aspirated six and eight cylinders? I also doubt they would make the gas tank different so if that capacity is not an error then it must be something inside that needs more space.

Actually what if that gas tank was similar to some of their other vehicles instead?

the 2.3 is the only one of the three engines which is direct injected. The fuel pump module could be different enough due to having to deliver greater pressure to the HPFP.

or maybe the exhaust system is different enough (larger or relocated resonators or something) which meant the tank had to shrink a bit to clear it.

I'm going with the first choice about the pump needing to be bigger for the higher pressures.

The Focus, Fusion, and Taurus don't have that size tank so that idea is probably not it. Fuel pump seems to be the go to reason until we get some hard evidence.
