Default Removing Stock Wing

So I got up early in the freezing cold to do a few mods to my car.... my Steeda strut brace and 3d Carbon Boy Racer wing arrived a few days back and I was itching to install them!

STB went on without a hitch... it looks really good but I have yet to drive the car and see if there is any noticeable difference.

The wing however was a different story, I removed the 4 bolts from the stock one and figured as its been on for a little over a year it would be a bit fiddly to get off but not that bad, I was wrong... the pads in between the spoiler and the truck lid seem stuck together, not sure if this is by design or due to weather but either way it looks like I need to cut through them, I tried pulling but the truck metal was flexing and I was worried about cracking the paint or clear coat.....

Its going into the body shop of Monday to have stripes installed so I'm going to ask them if they will remove it for me.... but I figured I would ask on here to see if anyone had any suggestions on getting it off.....

Use DuPont Kevlar fishing line and 'saw' thru the 3M adhesive pad.

Blow dryer to heat up the tape, then cut thru the tape with the fishing line. Use some goo-off to remove the tape after removing the spoiler.

I took off my stock rear deck lid last weekend. Fishing line, gloves and rubbing alcohol is all you'll need. I had to cut through two one-foot long double sided tape which was a BIIICH. So your project should be a little easier. Good luck!

Yeah these guys are right. One thing to look out for though....the 4 bolts are going to be in your way as you try to saw through the tape. So work on one side, come into the bolts, then do the other side, then the top, then bottom. If you just randomly saw around you are going to hit those bolts and break your line or hurt your hands. As said before, wear gloves.

Just had a quick go at it with something called spider wire (I'm not an outdoors type person so have no idea if thats the right stuff my other halfs dad just cut a length of and gave it to me) but its to cold outside to tell if its doing anything.... I'll try again in the morning....

Be really careful not to push your spoiler forward(like I did ) ) and cause the metal on the deck lid to dimple about an inch to the front. Use your heat gun/hairdryer underneath the decklid to loosen up the double sided tape where the nuts fasten to the decklid before you use your fish line.

I'm considering attacking my wing also but those are some rather large holes it will leave behind. Any suggestions on what to plug them with?

Well you can either get them permanently filled and painted otherwise there are more temporary options like this:
