Painting IUP Steering Wheel Pieces
I've been thinking about painting the silver sections of my IUP steering wheel and I thought I'd consult you guys first. I was thinking I would pop the plastic pieces off, sand them lightly and then use a rattle can on them. Or should I skip sanding them?
BTW, I'd redo the pieces silver.

Yeah I'm thinking a light grit sandpaper and a few coats would work. They have some discoloration and slight slight imperfections from over time, which I'm **** about, and I figured painting them could work since they pop off and are plastic. The thought crossed my mind for a split second to do them a different color but I really doubt that it would look right

Ok guys I took the plunge yesterday. Got some 400 grit sandpaper, a light colored "Ford" gray rattle can and some clear coat from Pep Boys. Completely sanded down each piece, wiped off all the dust, sprayed 3 even coats and 2 coats of clear. Here's the results....
I think they turned out well. Had a little trouble with the bottom piece and getting an even spray but I'm satisfied overall. The paint is an identical match to my satin e-brake handle which is a plus

I think they look great Alec. Probably will be nice for people to do with their auto shifters as well. I was looking to buy one on ebay and a lot of them had wear spots on them.
If you had said look i bought a new steering wheel i would have believed it!
