P-51 Paint Job

That's a sweet idea, Blacksmoke. I'm going to play around with a few different ideas tonight and post them.
Oh yeah this is going to be a money pit.
My fiance and I want a show car when all is said and done with this car.
Its not going to be worth as much as I would want by the time I'm ready to get another car, so why sell it?
We want a custom car that doesn't look tacky, so its going to take quite a bit of work to get that look with out going over board.

imo.. I'm diggin the olive drag.. maybe you could go - pre-war and have the top olive drab.. red seperating the silver all along the bottom.. which actually matches some of the P-47s.. so when the birds were on the ground, they were "camo'd" with the olive drab.. and then the silver along the bottom was for camo up in the air..

Here is the 2nd paint job.
I think this one looks quite a bit better than the first.
A little more airplane looking, than just military.
I like that, Mean.
I'll have to do a chop with it soon.
The purpose behind the paint job is awesome.

Opinions as follows:
1) The shade of green on the front fender looks too milky/white based for a military theme
2) The red stripe coming off the hood and down the door looks far too busy with the insignia on the door as well
3) The font for the "P-51" on the rear quarter looks too thin. A military style stencil font would fit the theme better.
3) All the best looking P-51 warbirds are silver, not green anyway imho
I'd suggest taking another look at photos of the Roush P-51A and P-51B models. They pulled off this concept, without going too far over the top.

Well IMHO the first chop blows the second away, by far. Maybe it is just the quality of the chop.
I do like the idea the poster suggested with the two tone green silver, stacked.
I would also think a place under your door with either Japanese or german flags showing confirmed kills. Maybe find a Mustang pilot from yesteryear with a certain amount of kills to dedicate the car to? Plus German flags would poke it at the BMW drivers or the Japanese flags the ricer world for a tie in to modern times.
