2007 Hood Struts from American Muscle Don't Fit
#11
Yeah.... Same problem as the OP. Fit of the bottom bracket is ****. Called and someone from AM told me their supervisor told them that only some of the brackets are affected and they are shipping out a new set of the bottoms to me. I'll be surprised if they fit with how far off the original ones I got sent were. They fit upside down with the left side on the right and vice versa (if you like ugly fitment).

Oh, I am not complaining so to say. Just more skeptical than not about the new bracket they are sending me. If what Chris says is true then they shouldn't have the new bracket in to fix it (he said 2-3 weeks) so how they are sending me one that will fit I don't know.

Yup, just got the new kit in and same problem as the old. It's obviously not a fabrication error but rather a design error.
Any update as to when the new brackets will be made Chris?
Also, for those thinking "Oh I will just install them upside down till I get the brackets that work"... Don't... Having them installed upside down has damaged the underhood where they mount, causing a dent and wearing the paint completely off.
Something is way off here Chris. The holes for the smaller bottom bracket are practically 1/4" off and if they were to be in the correct spot, there would be hardly any metal on the outside of the bracket to be structurally stable.
The hole in the pic is where the OEM bolt goes to mount that bracket. It needs to shift over about 3/16"-1/4" to line up with the OEM spot under the hood.

Hey,
We've actually got a new bracket coming out in about 2 weeks that will fix the confusion. We're sorry about that! The new bracket will allow it to be installed just as the directions say without having to flip it upside down. If you PM me your order number around 2/10/2012, I will send out a new set of brackets for you expedited!
Some people don't mind the bracket upside-down, but to make a cleaner install, we decided to redesign the bracket, and will now offer different part numbers with different brackets for 05-09 and 10-12. Sorry, and thanks again for your understanding!

only to have it not fit and then to find out the vendor
knew it would not fit and having to make a workaround
for the product. Hey, its 2012 and the S197 has been
out since 2005. But just now getting the fix worked up
for the consumer...

Yeah... I guess you could say that. Except for the fact that this has apparently been a problem for more than a year now. I am finding stuff back in February 2011 that shows people having this exact problem. The more I research it, the more people I find who can't get it to fit. And then to top it off Chris here tells me I should be fine if I have an 09', that the fitment problems are only on the 10-12... Which is completely the opposite of the truth. I'll give him the benefit of doubt and say that he just mis-typed what he meant.
Edit: Sending me a third kit, should be here in 4 days /sarcasm *crosses fingers* /sarcasm

So I got these "05-12" hood struts from American Muscle for my 2007 Shelby GT, but they don't fit. All the pics on AM's site show the L brackets installed upside down. The only car they fit according to the pics on the site are 11-12 models. So does anyone know of some black hood struts that will fit an 07 perfectly? Thanks!
