Default Auto T handle repair replace 06 mustang

I'm new to the forum. Recently purchased an 06 Mustang and love it. One item I would like to repair or replace is the T handle auto shifter. The top has a small area that is peeling. I Have not been able to find a new replacement. May have to check junk yards. Any suggestions to repair or replace? Can I just replace the handle without replacing the entire assembly? Thanks

Yes, you can just replace the T-handle if you want without replacing the entire assembly. Do you have a picture of the problem area you can post?

Ok Robert, that's an easy fix. The entire t-handle can be removed and replaced. It's only held on by one screw which you can find on the front side on the handle (side that faces the dash) You will also need to unplug the OD button. Once you unplug the OD button the entire t-handle will lift right off. Removing the center conceal will help you to get where the OD button plugs in at. You can't miss it, (two small white wires with a small white plug)

Default Same Problem

I have the same problem with my wife's T-Handle. I ordered a black replacement for it but when I went to put it on everything fit, except the mounting screw location was shifted so it wouldn't work. Did they move the screw hole at some point?

I have tried to use the one from the chrome (satin) to replace the black, and it doesn't work. They are made differently inside (shift handle only, the rest is the same for some reason). I ended up using the black handle with chrome caps, then used the satin display trim (in place of the black trim). That was a better look than the all satin chrome or the all black. It gave it a better look and matched up better with the interior.

I have a spare chrome satin shifter lying around, so if you can't find one, PM me.
